Hall of Fame Inductee - Patrick Mozola

Patrick was a part of the program for over 17 years. He joined the team as an athlete in 1990 and was a member of the team until 1994. After graduation, he stayed on as an assistant coach for a year before becoming the program's head coach in 1996. During his tenure as head coach, Patrick brought the team under the umbrella of the Athletics department, allowing the team to benefit from many of the perks available to varsity teams and athletes. This was a significant development for the program which still reaps benefits from that move today. Patrick was also the first coach to take advantage of the University's endowment fund to purchase training mats for the team. The mats significantly improved the safety and training conditions for the athletes. After stepping down from the head coach position in 1998, Patrick took a break from cheerleading for a couple of years before returning as an assistant coach under Paul Sachdev. He remained an assistant coach to the program until November 2006. As an assistant coach, he passed on his extensive technical knowledge and his love of stunting to several generations of athletes. Patrick instilled in all of us the importance of having good technique and put us on our way to become the technically strong team that we are today. For these contributions and more, Patrick was inducted into the University of Waterloo Cheerleading Hall of Fame and presented with the Footprint Award.

Inducted June 23, 2007
